GASTROENTEROLOGY
This specialty focuses on the detection, diagnosis, and treatment of health issues related to the digestive system and gastrointestinal (or GI) tract. The organs comprising the GI tract permit food to be converted into nutrients that are essential to normal health. They also allow the unused matter to be removed from the body. The GI tract starts with the mouth and follows through the digestive system to the esophagus, stomach, small and large intestine (colon) and the rectum. Other organs associated with the GI system include the liver, pancreas, and gall bladder.
IMG has a Medicare-certified endoscopy center in our new facility. The Ambulatory Surgery Center is a separate on-site center for providing endoscopic procedures of the upper and lower intestinal tract, treatment of gastrointestinal problems, and diagnosis of liver disease.
